The April show is up and running. This month's show is a little more experimental due to many strange requests I received last month. Although some videos may be questioned as being "enigmatic," I believe they were some very good choices. A few were videos I was initially on the fence with but I see other fans think like me :)

My favorite request was Depeche Mode's "Enjoy The Silence." At first the only relation I saw to Enigma was the time of its release. "Enjoy The Silence" was released the same year as Enigma's first album. I think it's worthy of this show due to the electro drum track and the overall "mood" of the band. I like to classify DM as mood music. DM has also been known to just go out and sample a bunch of different sounds and incorporate them into their songs.

Another questionable request was for the Pet Shop Boys "Opportunities." I would never have picked this video for the show but I guess the beginning has an Enigma feel to it. I'm not a huge PSB fan so I really wouldn't know what PSB video to pick if I had to choose. I do feel that they fit into some "Enigmatic" section due to their synthpop sound.

In any event this show is not just about a bunch of monks and Gregorian chants. So many people classify Enigma as "church" music or weird world music. I like to think of Enigmatic music as something that has a bunch of elements mixed together, something that stands out and is different than mainstream. To me something as simple as a beat that Enigma used can make that song Enigmatic.

Please remember that this video show is not limited to just Enigma and Michael Cretu related projects such as Sandra, Arabesque, Avenue, Boney M, and Hubert Kah.
